NASA Manned Spacecraft Center, 3-4 October 1963, SIGNED BY MERCURY ASTRONAUTS on front folder cover: "Project Mercury Astronaut Scott Carpenter, Aurora 7 Mission, Gordon Cooper, Faith 7 Mission, and Wally Schirra, Sigma 7." The contents of the folder contain a large newspaper-sized 16-page summary publication which includes a chronology, stories of key personnel involved, and multiple photos. Also a 12-page booklet titled "Exploring Space...Project Mercury". BOTH SIGNED BY CARPENTER, COOPER, AND SCHIRRA on the front covers. [With:] Two different Project Mercury fact sheet summaries, an official Turtle Club membership card SIGNED BY CARPENTER, COOPER, AND SCHIRRA. Bearer of the card is required to answer, "Are you a Turtle?" with the password, "You bet your sweet _ _ _ I am" or suffer the consequences as explained on the card, ten 8 x 10 in. Mercury photographs, and an additional Mercury report. (16)
