Vittorio Putti, one of the most celebrated and innovative orthopaedic surgeons of his time, formed his collection largely through the inspiration of De Marinis, and at the suggestion of Conte Vittorio Cini. The catalogue lists 1,158 works, including 17 manuscripts, and in a second section, approximately 350 unnumbered autographs of physicians and scientists.
