LOTS 37-38PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF HOWARD H.S. CHAOBorn in Xixian, Henan province, Howard HS Chao (1920-2012) was a well known journalist in China and Japan. After he moved to the United States in 1952, taught Chinese at Yale University and authored several books and a syndicated news column. Professor Chao’s keen interest in paintings and calligraphy inspired him to befriend artists and collect their works when he met them in the U.S. or during his travels to China.
