Lot Essay

From various suras.

The inscription Husayn ibn 'Ali may be a later, albeit Medieval, addition to this early Qur'an section. Early Qur'ans were sometimes falsely attributed to the close followers of the Prophet, either to the Caliphs or in this case to the son of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.

From the seal impressions attached to this folio, it appears that this Qur'an was highly valued and part of a Royal Safavid library.
