Lot Essay

Of the same size and technique, and probably drawn during the same trip in the Alps, as a drawing of Val Urbano sold at Christie's, London, 11-3 December 1985, lot 311. Also comparable is a drawing of Impruneta in the Uffizi (C. Thiem, Florentiner Zeichner Des Frùhbarock, Munich, 1977, no. 121).
Dr. Roland de Lathuy has kindly confirmed the attribution to Cantagallina of the basis of a photograph.
