The Feast of Saint Nicholas

The present work is one of three known versions by Brakenburg. The other versions have a checkered floor whereas the present painting's floor is left plain. One signed version is in a private collection, Scotland (see F. Russell, John, 3rd Earl of Bute, London, 2004, no. 159, illustrated) and the other unsigned version was sold at Sotheby's London, 3 July 1997, lot 229 (£14,950).
