Lot Essay

Following the success of Richardson's work at the Jockey Club in Newmarket (lot 199), Richardson was asked to design the new Royal Pavilion at Ascot Racecourse and work began in 1936.

We are grateful to John Harris and Charles Hind for their assistance with cataloguing the group of architectural drawings.
