Lot Essay

Collinson was a genre painter who exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1858 and 1890 as well as the British Institution and Suffolk Street. The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, contains his 1864 RA exhibit Ordered on Foreign Service. His wife was a flower painter who also exhibited at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street.
