Lot Essay

Mylne extensively remodelled and extended Wormleybury for Sir Abraham Hume, 2nd Baronet in 1767-1770. The principal rooms were decorated by Robert Adam, 1777-79. Mylne's relationship with the family continued into the next generation, he worked for Hume's son in London in 1777.

We are grateful to Stephen Astley, Helen Dorey and Susan Palmer and the rest of the team at the Sir John Soane's Museum, London for all their assistance with the group of 18th and 19th century architectural drawings and designs.
