Please note that this work was originally commissioned for the 1974 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The work was created to be used as a prop in Robert Wilson’s performance The Knee Plays, representing the United States during the opening ceremony. Although the performance was unrealized at the Olympics, The Knee Plays were later performed at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis in 1984.
