An archer's cap of soft brown suede trimmed on the left with a selection of russet coloured bird feathers and partially lined inside with sage coloured cotton with Western Costume Co. Los Angeles woven label inscribed in black ink with production details DF 1922 -- made for one of the Merry Men in Douglas Fairbanks' 1922 production Robin Hood, accompanied by a black and white photograph of French film critic Maurice Bessy circa 1980s (printed later) seated at his desk at home surrounded by pieces from his collection including this hat which can be seen in the foreground -- 9 3/8x12in. Lot Essay
Although this hat is initialled inside D F and Bessy believed it to have been made for Douglas Fairbanks, it doesn't match up with the ones he wore on screen in Robin Hood.
