Lot Essay

Roger Fenton was the first to successfully exploit the photogalvanographic process, a state-of-the-art technique developed by the Viennese scientist Paul Pretsch as a sophisticated means of creating a printing plate, capable of faithfully rendering the tones and detail of a photographic print.
