Lot Essay

A similar watch is illustrated in Wristwatches Rolex by O. Patrizzi, p. 127.
The Milgauss model was designed for use in areas of high electro-magnetic fields, laboratories, electro-engineering etc. One of the most distinctive of all Rolex 'Sports' models, the 1019 was the last 'tool' watch, i.e. a watch designed for a specific activity, to be produced by the company. Despite being in production for over 20 years (1963-1985) it was never a popular watch and, as such, is now considered very desirable.
