Lot Essay

'It was at my Dexter studio [in 1968-69] that I did SILVER SECTION. The sequence began with a blue and an orange cylinder which I rendered using the proportions of the golden ratio. The first painting in the sequence was titled Golden Section. I exchanged 'golden' for 'silver' in the final painting because gray colors resulted from rendering the plaster of paris bas-relief cast or, in one case, the silver cast.'

(The artist quoted, 2013).
