Sophie was born in 1846, the first daughter of Maximilian Theobald Joseph Count Vrints von Falkenstein and his first wife Franciska Posthuma von Bartenstein (see Christie's, London, King Street, 21 June 1999, lots 46 and 47). She was the younger sister of Maximilian (see lot 130) and married Count Joseph Rudolph von Thurn-Valsassina.
