These fans were raffled at a charity event to raise money for victims of the volcanic eruption in Martinique in 1895. There was also another in 1902. No555 was exhibited in L'Eventail, Miroir de la Belle Epoque, No. 125, 1985. There is also another in the Musee Carnavallet, exhibited no. 218, Eventails Actualites Vie Parisienne, 1973. Louise Abbema was Sarah Bernhardt's companion for 50 years. She was a well known artist and painted the portrait of Mme. Duvelleroy
