Sir Jasper More KB DL JP (1907-1987) served as Member of Parliament for Ludlow from 1960-1979, in which time he served as Vice-Chamberlain of Her Majesty’s Household from 1970-71. A now purely political role, the Vice-Chamberlain’s main duty is to act as Government Whip alongside delivering weekly reports of parliamentary affairs to the Sovereign. He was knighted on his retirement from politics in 1979. A black Dispatch Box by Barrow, Hepburn and Gill, from the Collection of the Right Honourable the Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven, LG, OM, FRS sold in December, 2015 at Christie’s for £35,000.
