Portrait of Baroness Burdett Coutts

Angela Georgina Burdett-Coutts was the first woman to be made Baroness in her own right. She devoted herself to works of charity building churchs and schools and was raised to the peerage in 1871 becoming the Baroness of Highgate and Brookfield.
