SIX SYRIAN CYLINDER SEALS
circa late 3rd millennium-mid 2nd millennium b.c.
Of black steatite and diorite, one engraved with a standing winged deity before a seated figure, a palm tree in the field; one with three worshippers and a seated figure; one with two worshippers facing two deities, a guilloche between a winged griffin and a hare as the terminal; one with two worshippers facing a deity, a guilloche between a winged griffin and a lion as the terminal; another similar but reversed, one worshipper holding forth an idol before the deity, a guilloche between a sphinx and a monkey as the terminal; and one (damaged) with a worshipper before two winged deities, four small figures, a sphinx above, a hare and a bird below as the terminal
