2° (487 x 294mm). Half-title. Engraved title and 55 engraved plates after Soane (numbered 1-21, 21*. 22-54). (Some old, mainly marginal, staining.) Modern green half morocco, spine gilt with early lettering-piece.
FIRST EDITION. Soane, writing in the introduction, explains that "This work, intended as a continuation of the Designs for Public Improvements in London and Westminster [published in 1827]... of which only Twenty-five copies were distributed, owes its origin to the very gracious manner in which that Collection was received, which induced me to reprint it, with such additional Designs and Illustrations as a revision of the Subject suggested": DNB.
