Sir Richard Steele (1672-1729), wellknown author, playwrite and politician is inseparably associated in the history of literature with his personal friend Addison. In 1718, he obtained a patent for a plan for bringing salmon alive from Ireland and published his ideas in this interesting work. It was reprinted in 1789 and 1790.
