Half titles, coloured frontispieces, titles printed in red and black, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH NUMEROUS ENGRAVED PORTRAITS AND PLATES. Finely-bound in contemporary dark blue crushed morocco gilt, crown cornerpieces on covers repeated in compartments of spines, top edges gilt (a few scuffs).
With various other (incomplete) works in 55 volumes, including Samuel Johnson's The Works ... a New Edition (London, 1806, 11 vols. only (of 12, lacking vol. VIII)) and Robert Thoroton's History of Nottinghamshire (Nottingham, 1790, vols. II - III only (of 3), numerous engraved plates and maps), all bound in contemporary calf gilt.
