TECHENER, Jacques-Joseph & Joseph-Léon TECHENER -- Catalogue des livres rares & curieux, manuscrits & estampes brulées à Londres dans la maison Leigh Sotheby, J. Wilkinson & Hodge... Paris: Techener Fils & A. Aubry, 1865.

8o (241 x 160 mm) (Some occasional light spotting.) Contemporary cloth-backed marbled boards, original wrappers bound in (corners lightly bumped).

Between February 1865 and May 1866 the celebrated Paris bookseller Joseph Techener and his son Léon, were forced by financial difficulties to liquidate their stock in a series of thirteen public sales consecutively numbered, as were the lots, 1-17,959. All the sales were in Paris, with the exception of No. 7, which took place in London. Consisting of lots 5,060-7,556, No. 7 included ninety-six manuscripts, 206 incunabula, and 106 Aldines. These lots were shipped to Sotheby's where they were completely destroyed in a disastrous fire. De Ricci, p. 155; Blogie III, col.26.
