[TEXTILE]. ROOSEVELT, THEODORE and Charles W. FAIRBANKS. Large bandanna with central oval portraits of Republican Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates Roosevelt and Fairbanks, beneath on a ribbon the slogan, "Protection to American Industries," at top a large American Eagle with shield and two pendant American flags, all on a ground of red stars. [Madison, Maine: Lyon Bros., 1904]. 24 x 22¼ in. Cotton, printed in brown, red and blue, edges neatly hemmed. Preserved in a sunken mat with marbled edging, matted and glazed in a carved wood frame. Unexamined out of frame. Highly decorative oversized bandanna from Roosevelt's energetic 1904 campaign. The unusual slogan does not seem to have been widely used. H.R.
