Churchill edited The British Gazette. It was initiated to combat the closing down of newspaper offices during the General Strike of 1926 and was published from the Daily Telegraph building in Fleet Street, manned by a volunteer staff. During its short life its circulation increased dramatically from 232,000 to in excess of 2,000,000 copies. Whilst no articles were acknowledged as being by Churchill, that entitled "The Birth and Life of 'The British Gazette'", which appeared in the final issue, can be confidently attributed to him.
