Not only capable of winning F1 world championships, the Maserati name has long produced outstanding road cars and the Khamsin (Tipo 120) is one such example. Designed by Bertone to replace the Indy, the Khamsin (named after an Egyptian desert wind) was Maserati's answer to the Ferrari Daytona. The elegant 2+2 coupe was first shown at Turin in 1972, but being in the midst of the 'Citroen era' production did not commence until 1974. Utilising the powerful V8, this front engined stunner could escort four passengers in style and the Khamsin was capable of sprinting from 0-60 in 6.5secs and achieve a top speed of 168mph.

As with all supercars, the Khamsin was produced in limited numbers. By 1979 over 400 had been produced but the popularity of the model ensured it remained in production until the early 1982.

Popstars and celebrities have long enjoyed the allure of fast cars and this rare right hand drive Khamsin was purchased new by Mike Oldfield of 'Tubular Bells' fame. It was originally registered in April 1978.

Immaculately presented, the vendor acquired the Khamsin from its second owner in 1989 and during his ownership it has been seldom used. Its condition is excellent and has recently received a thorough mechanical check over.

An excellent example of the marque and model.
