Lot Essay

Rowbotham succeeded his father, Thomas Leeson Scarse Rowbotham (1783-1853) as drawing master at the Royal Naval School, Greenwich. He toured Wales, Scotland and Germany and chiefly painted romantic landscapes and maritime subjects.
