Lot Essay

The pendant, also dated 1631, on panel, 50 x 41.5 cm, is in the Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen (J. Adams, op.cit., p.64, cat.no.34, ill.).
The present lot is typical of the portrait style developed by de Keyser from circa 1625, for which he became famous.
