The National Race Championship second prize medallion awarded for his placement during the year's events including his famous winning drive at the 'Indianapolis 500' in the Agajanian Special car #98; 10 carat gold, very decorative pierced and embossed design motif surrounding silver AAA central logo, with inset ruby to shield below; engraved and inscribed to reverse "1952 - second place awarded to Troy Ruttman - by the contest board A.A.A", contained in original presentation case.

Lot Essay

With his victory in the Indy 500 and other victories and placings in the championship, Ruttman was unfortunately deprived of outright overall victory due to injuries sustained in a Sprint-Car race in August, thus preventing further competition that year.
