TWO AGATE SNUFF BOTTLES

The smaller bottle, Zhiting School, Suzhou, 1800-1880, is carved through a dark russet 'skin' with a sage seated below a pine tree. The reverse is carved in relief with a poetic inscription. The second bottle, Official School, 1760-1850, is carved with Lui Hai dangling a string of cash atop his three-legged toad in the amber-colored 'skin,' with clouds carved on the sides in white patches of stone, and bats on the reverse.
2 ¾ and 2 ½ in. (4.5 and 6.4 cm.) high, hardstone stoppers
