TWO COPPER-PLATE ENGRAVINGS OF EMPEROR QIANLONG'S CONQUEST
DATED 1769 AND 1770
The first depicts the 'Surrender of the Ili, the lower border inscribed 'P. Jonatius Sichelbarth Soc. JESU delin. 1765', 'C.N. Cochin Direx.' and 'B.L. Prevost Sculpsit 1769'. The second depicts the 'Grand Victory of Qurman', the lower border inscribed 'P.F. Joannes Damascenus, Romanus, Augustinus Excalceatus Missionarius Apostolicus delineavit et fecit, Anno 1765', 'C.N. Cochin Direxis', and 'Augustinus de St. Aubin Sculpsit Parisus Anno 1770'.
