TWO SMALL ARCHAISTIC PALE GREYISH-WHITE AND RUSSET JADE CARVINGS
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The first a thin axe-shaped carving with flared, rounded cutting edge opposite an oval aperture at the haft and flanked on the narrow sides by notched flanges, with finely incised and carved archaistic scroll designs, the haft surmounted by a sinuous chilong, the second a carving of a phoenix with scrolling S-shaped body finely incised with archaistic scroll designs, both carved from pale greyish-white stone with feathery russet markings
