Two Small Daggers (Tanto)
Edo period (18th-19th century), the first signed Hoju, the second inscribed Gassan
The small blade with hira-zukuri configuation, iori-mune back, and uchi-zori curvature and decorated with bonji horimono on both sides, the forging pattern mokume with a gunome tempered edge, tang ubu with two mekugi-ana; the second dagger of hira-zukuri configuration with iori-mune back and saki-zori curvature, the forging pattern ayasugi with a suguha tempered edge crossing the outer rings of the mokume pattern, the tip indistinct, the tang ubu with two mekugi-ana; both in wood storage scabbards
