TWO WHITE AND RUSSET JADE SNUFF BOTTLES
1750-1880
The first is of flattened rectangular form, the even-white stone is softly polished on one side, the other flattened side is highlighted by the mottling of the russet skin. The second is carved on the rounded side with a wide band of basketweave through the translucent white stone, and on the flat reverse, which is highlighted by the russet skin, with a scholar and his attendant beneath a pine tree.
2½ and 2 3/8 in. (6.4 and 6 cm.) high, rose quartz and hardstone stoppers, gilt-metal collar
