Album containing sixty-six photographs, albumen prints, gelatin silver prints and photomechanical reproductions, twenty-six hand-tinted, each approx. 7½ x 9½ in., the majority titled and numbered in the negatives, several titled and with descriptive text in ink on mounts, maroon morocco, ruled in gilt (front cover partially detached and spine damaged), oblong 4to.

Lot Essay

Approximately half the images are Japanese landscapes and portrait studies including river scenes, architectural studies, portraits of geisha, and a group portrait of samurai; the images of Algeria include several views of the towns, ruins and two street scenes.
