Lot Essay

Compare with another ru-type vase of this form but from the Qianlong reign, published in the Illustrated Catalogue of Tokyo National Museum, Chinese Ceramics, II, 1990, no. 721, from the collection of Hirota Matsushige ; see also a very similar Qianlong vase, sold in our Hong Kong Rooms, 30 May 2005, lot 1487.
