TWENTY HORSES FROM AROUND THE WORLD IN VERNET'S OFTEN HIGHLY DRAMATIC POSES. Menessier de la Lance comments: 'Il fut donc surtout un peintre de chevaux ... il ne dessina que le cheval fin, français ou étranger, arabe ou anglais, mais surtout ce dernier qu'il représenta avec une vérité d'attitude et une exactitude anatomique inconnues jusqu'à lui.'
