Vianney Halter is an imaginatve and passionate horologist. He attended watchmaking school in Paris at the age of 13 and began specialising in horological restoration work in Switzerland at 17. In 1993, Halter collaborated with the house of Harry Winston to create the Opus III. The master watchmaker then founded his own company, La Manufacture Janvier in 1994, paying tribute to the renowned French clockmaker Antide Janvier (1751 - 1835).

Vianney Halter debuted at the Basel International Watch Fair in 1998 with the presentation of the model Antiqua. This watch has a style which may be best described as a "relic of the future". The heart of this watch is the calibre VH198, developed in-house and shares mechanical movements with the Lemania Calibre 8810. Each Antiqua requires approx. 900 hours to complete. The case is composed of nearly 100 parts of 30 different types and each dial is hand-engraved making each watch unique.
