With fully colored border decoration, corners with figures representing the four continents, upper and lower border each decorated with six portraits of Roman emperors, sides decorated with alternating views of principal towns and groups of costumed figures representing: Europe, Asia, Africa, North-, Middle- and South-America. (Some green areas with minor chipping or breaking and with tissue reinforcement on verso, some light browning.)

A later state of Visscher's second world map published 1639. One of the most beautifully decorated maps of the 17th-century. "Visscher's map has been updated geographically to show discoveries around Hudson's Bay: it also shows an extended St. Lawrence river" (Shirley). Visscher sometimes adopted the latinised version of his name "Piscator" as seen in the upper right corner of this map. Shirley 350.
