Castle's stainless steel 'Abilene' rocking chair highlights the effect of light on the bold and graceful curvilinear lines of its highly polished smooth surface. Its reflectivity at times dematerializes the biomorphic sculptural form of what is essentially an elegantly playful piece of furniture

This work is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Wendell Castle. Addtionally, this edition will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné Wendell Castle: A Catalogue Raisonné 1958-2012 published by The Artist Book Foundation and written by Emily Evans Eerdmans, with essays by Glenn Adamson, Jane Adlin, and Dave Barry.
