Lot Essay

Geneigter Frauenkopf is derived from Lehmbruck's celebrated sculpture Knieende, which he conceived in Paris in 1911. A version was exhibited at the Salon d'Automne.

Another Valsuani cast of this work, formerly in the Artist's estate, is now housed in the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum, Duisburg.
