"My newsman has left me a copy of the Literary World, containing the portrait of "Jack Sheppard," after Sir James Thomlish. I wish I had known of this earlier, as I have since discovered where Sir J. T.'s portrait is to be purchased for 3 guineas." He offers to send a Mr. Timbs an original drawing of himself by Mr. Lane and to furnish the recipient of the letter with some particulars for a possible memoir. He wishes to give Timbs preference over another application and encloses a proof impression of his portrait.
