Lot Essay

Beck compares the present lot to a view of possibly Nijmegen in the collection of Fürst zu Salm-Salm in Anholt (op. cit., p. 246, no. 666). A picture with the same composition was offered with Sotheby's, London, 29 October 1980, lot 118, as W. Knijff (listed in Beck erroneously under the current lot).
