Further details
The paintings from this collection are dedicated to Zhao Chengzhi, a familiar name often seen on published paintings by Northern artists and in the art market. The collection now comes from Zhao’s descendants and consists of five works by 20th century artists from Beijing and Tianjin. The collection manifests the friendships between Zhao and leading figures in the art and cultural field in Beijing in the 1940s. Especially rare are Various Subjects (Lot 1149) and Album of Landscape Paintings (Lot 1151), where on very rare occasions groups of renowned artists collaborated to produce a singular work.
