Note:
This painting was dedicated to Chaoshu.
Wu Chaoshu was a renowned diplomat in the Southwest Asian region during the Republic era and served as the Ambassador of China in Malaysia. Wu was acquainted with the Chinese artistic circle that included painters like Yang Shanshen and Zhao Shaoang, and was particularly close and helpful to Xu Beihong. Yang Shanshen painted the present lot for Wu during a visit to Singapore.
