Lot Essay

This collection of paintings comes from a prominent Japanese collector Mr Hanabusa Yanagihara (early 20th century. He had a strong interest in Chinese art and culture, and was doctor to Pu Jie (1907-1994). His collection also includes a collection of Modern Chinese paintings such as works by Qi Baishi and Zhang Daqian, to be offered in our Fine Chinese Modern Paintings auction on 29 May 2012.
