Lot Essay

This painting is dedicated to Xu Baiyuan (1902-1980). Born in Jinhua, Zhejiang province, Xu was a renowned financial expert in Republican China. Upon moving to Taiwan in 1950, Xu held key leadership positions at the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the Republic of China. Outside of work, Xu enjoyed Chinese paintings and became acquainted with Zhang Daqian and collected his artworks.
