6 volumes, 8o (216 x 129 mm). Engraved title vignettes, 600 hand-colored engraved plates (50 signed plates after B. Thanner), half-titles for all volumes. Contemporary half deerskin and marbled boards (some rubbing to covers). Provenance: Massachusetts Horticultural Society, Stickney Fund (bookplate dated 1893; stamps).

First Dutch edition and translation of the second edition with 600 plates of the Icones plantarum medicinalium. "This work on medical plants is variously cited in different catalogues and bibliographies under Johann Carl Krauss, Dheoderich Leonhard Oskamp, or Johannes Zorn. Oskamp is the author of the preface dated October 15, 1794, in volume 1: Krauss is the author of the preface dated August 1801 in volume 6; and Zorn is the author of Icones plantarum medicinalium (1779-1784; second edition, 1784-1790), from which the plates were taken. According to Nissen, Martin Houttuyn was also involved in the production of the work" Cleveland Collections 639; Nissen BBI 2203; Stafleu and Cowen TL2 3926. (6)
