Christie's wishes to thank Giancarlo Montebello for his assistance with the cataloguing of this lot.

Lucio Fontana designed just two versions of the cuff - one with a single slit, illustrated in the book cited and the other with two slits, previously unpublished. Only four examples were created of each design.

This work is registered in the Archivio Lucio Fontana, Milan, under n. 1737/109.
