This photo portrait by Clinedinst Electric Photos, of 1207 F Street in Washington, shows President McKinley in a morning coat, seated in profile on a swivel chair in front of a slightly cluttered desk, perusing a document. An inscription by an unknown hand on the verso of the card states: "Given to Clifford Hyde McCall, Saturday Mar. 23, 1901 by President McKinley at the White House, Washington, D. C." Six months later McKinley was shot and killed while attending the Buffalo Exhibition.
